Local Love This Season

Local businesses need our love more than ever this year. I have read some reports of how much the huge companies like Amazon have profited since March, and it is heartbreaking when compared to all of the loss suffered by small businesses.

Salchicha is my go-to for mindfully curated products that are supporting other small businesses and artists that care about people and the planet.

One of my absolute favorite local boutiques is Salchicha in the Market building in Bozeman. Whether I need beautiful, sustainably-made clothes, unique gifts, jewelry, candles, or fun kitchen goodies… she’s got me covered; annnnnnd it’s basically in my backyard!

“SALCHICHA IS MONTANA'S MODERN MERCHANTILE' SELLING WOMEN'S, CHILDREN, AND HOME GOODS THAT ARE PRIMARILY LOCALLY SOURCED AND AMERICAN MADE. SALCHICHA OFFERS HANDMADE, UNIQUE, GIFTS AND STYLES THAT PRESENT SIMPLE, CLEAN, AND RAW DESIGNS. HANDPICKED BY THE FOUNDER, KAIT COSTANTI, THE VISION IS TO SHOWCASE SUSTAINABLE, THOUGHTFULLY CURATED, PIECES.”

Honestly, my FAVORITE part of the store -that aligns with my values/passions, is the APOTHECARY. This is a curated selection of holistic, self-care and healing products that are made with the highest integrity and ingredients.

Dry brushing is an ancient Ayurvedic ritual that encourages the flow of lymphatic fluid to support our body’s natural detoxification process as well as support immune function. The best part it… it feels AMAZING and is so INVIGORATING, you will notice an energy rush right away! It is such an easy form of self care, and has the added benefit of improving circulation and exfoliating away dead skin cells. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to give yourself some detox LOVE!

Another form of self-care is developing rituals. This sage, incense, and journal are some great ways to step away from electronics and connect with yourself. These are all three possible avenues to step out of the stress response (fight or flight) and help your body and mind settle into the relaxation response (rest and digest).

Tongue-Scraping is another 5,000 year-old gift of Ayurvedic medicine. It’s the self-care you didn’t even know you needed! It helps to remove bacteria that contribute to bad breath and dental decay. It also improves our sense of taste & helps to curb cravings by eliminating lingering tastes from hours ago, with the added benefit of removing any gross film from the tongue.

Glō Luxury Oils are made fresh weekly by the lovely and warm Bozeman mama, Megan Ulrichs. Glō is committed to creating and delivering 100% natural and organic products to nourish, protect and regenerate your skin without compromising on health, safety, quality or sustainability. Letting the face polish naturally exfoliate and brighten my tired skin is one of my favorite self-care practices I do about 2x per week.

Head to the store if you live in Bozeman, if not you can check out the online mercantile. {They are having an amazing Black Friday discount until Nov. 27th}

Remember, you can give small businesses some love for free:

  1. Tell your friends and family about them (hi, friend!)

  2. Leave a glowing review (Yelp, Google, Facebook)

  3. Follow them on social media

  4. Share about your interactions with the business
